Another feast of football yesterday saw our pre season come to a close.
The reserves went down 7-0 to Hardwick Reserves and learnt a valuable lesson that if you get your heads down at 2-0 down you’ll get dicked. Bad day at the office!!
The first team played Hellenic Div 1 side Penn & Tyler Green who are already 3 games into their season..
We started well and looked very threatening on the break and went one nil up after a Ryan Brooks was brought down in the box. Ryan Brooks then got up and smashed the penalty into the top corner.
P&TG then equalised after bad marking from us at a corner. They then went 2-1 up from the spot after Lewis Bland committed GBH in the penalty area.
Hallions started the second half very well and for the first 10 minutes it was one way traffic creating 3 good chances to score. A bit more composure, a cutback rather than a shot and we would have been at least level.
The visitors then broke and increased their lead with another well worked goal. 1-3.
Hallions then scored the goal of the match when Dean Smith and Stuart Bridges scored a goal that they have allegedly been practicing in their garden since they were 8 years old.
They must have exchanged passes with each other 7 or 8 times before Dean Smith curled into the far top corner giving the keeper no chance.
(The rest of the team were having a quick fag break in case you’re interested.)
Bad decisions often cost you against top teams and this was the case here. A ball that could have cleared was instead given away and the opposition smashed home from 25 yards. 4-2
In the latter stages we correctly chased the game and got caught on the break 5-2.
Overall a very pleasing performance against a side 3 divisions higher than us. With performances like that it’s going to be a very interesting season for the first team.
YOU HALLIONS YOU!
