BDLJFA DIVISION 2 – MATCH REPORT [SATURDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2020] BICESTER HALLIONS RES 1 V HARDWICK SPORTS RES 1

GAME ABANDONED AFTER 56 MINUTES

Bloody unbelievable but for some mind boggling reason this game was given the go ahead to be played.
The game started with it p…..g down with rain together with gale force wind which duly nobbled up a spectators brolly.
As early as the first minute Hallions defender Jason Bridges was stopped in his tracks as he sprinted forward by a stray duck, luckily neither Jason nor the piece of poultry were injured.
Despite the conditions both teams seemed to adapt to the conditions and began to serve up a decent amount of football.
In the 10th minute Hallions gave away a needless free kick on the edge of their penalty area, which Hardwicks Joe Short forced Oggy Honour into a fingertip save.
Immediately Hallions hit back on the counter attack with Ellis Godin going close with a rasping effort.
As the half wore on the old car windows began to steam up, leaving the reporter with limited visibility.
Then in the 20th minute I am reliably informed that Michael Harding gave Hardwick the lead following a corner. It may well have been a corker or even crap, who cares.
As the rain increased, as did the crowd with a bunch of local scouts or spies taking an active interest, or did they just fancy a soaking – idiots!
In the 25th minute Lewis Bland shot narrowly wide with good effort as the Hallions looked for that equaliser.
As half time approached [44th minute] Hallions finally levelled the scores with the hardworking Liam Godin netting following good work from Bruv Ellis.
Half time whistle sounded which saw a further pitch inspection – apparently the pitch was still wet.

The second half started with the drowned rats still trying to entertain one and all.
Even Arthur the ref added to the occasion with a change of kit, which resembled a rather dazzling light bulb.
Then in the 56th minute the game was abandoned with pitch deemed unplayable.
Credit to both teams who provided good entertainment despite appalling conditions.
Hopefully the pitch should recover before Easter.
